Although, the rules for Texas Holdem poker are universal, the way you play your hands may vary. For instance, in fixed limit games, it may make sense to call a bet, based on the pot or implied odds, where as in no limit Texas Holdem you can't play your drawing hands the same way. Another player, usually the bettor, is far more likely to distort your outs and odds by making a big bet, therefore making it imprudent for you to stay in the hand.
Very much of Texas Holdem strategy (whether it be single table, multi table or cash games) has to do with the position you're in at the table. If your under the gun (first to act), the starting hands you play will be drastically different then when your in late position or on the button.

In addition, if the player to the left of you is an aggressive player, constantly raising, then you have to adjust your play accordingly. Let's talk a little bit about bluffing here. Did you know, watching ESPN will make you think that bluffing at Hugepots is a big part of Texas Holdem success? Well not really. I think people believe this because everyone loves to tell stories about it. Look how many times we have all seen the Chris Moneymaker v. Sam Farha bluff at the 2003 WSOP. Don't get me wrong, I think bluffing is definitely a part of the game but rarely to the scale some people want you to believe.
More than anything, you bluff at small pots to keep your stack from dwindling. Rarely do you get enough good hands or hit enough flops to just play your cards, so bluffing and semi-bluffing definitely come into play. Sometimes, especially heads up, you know your opponent well, it makes sense to play the man and bluff in these situations. And to be fair, once in a while, you will be in a big pot bluffing your shorts off.
